My interest in Marilyns began... in June 2012 after two friends met Alan Whatley on Barra. Alan introduced them to the joys of Marilyn bagging. On their return I followed their advice and purchased a copy of the RHB book.
My favourite Marilyn is... Moel Famau. It is visible from the Thelwall Viaduct that is close to where I live and I have climbed it on many occasions; it is best climbed at sunset when the masses have returned home. There is a variety of paths to choose from and once on the summit there are outstanding 360° views. Also, my mother-in-law lived in Llanbedr at the foot of the hill, so walks up Moel Famau will always be associated with fantastic Sunday dinners.
My least favourite Marilyns are... the drive-through Marilyns, the ones where it is hardly worth stepping out of the car - Crowborough immediately springs to mind.
Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? No - never could keep a secret. I am definitely not MI6 material.
I... once did a summer season with The Bachelors. Throughout the summer of 1967, The Bachelors were performing at the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough. Most mornings when they were rehearsing and working on songs for their latest LP, I was there working alongside them - I had a summer job at the theatre, working as a cleaner.
