My interest in Marilyns began... after I completed the Munro Tops and I had momentum going on the Corbetts. Realising that the latter was a far more rigorous list caused me to wander up the odd lesser hill at the end of a hill day. This tactic has certainly boosted my Marilyn total and took me to places I had never had experienced. It is a win-win situation. The other influence was my friend Ted Jackson, who lived a short distance from me. On the hill and in a bothy Ted was the best of company, he valued everyone and had a wry sense of humour.
My favourite Marilyns are... the Assynt hills, even if I have yet to climb some of them. I reckon that when I am no longer able to climb the hills I will be content to gaze at them from afar, but not just yet.
My least favourite Marilyns are... a few in the Borders that have tested my resolve on a wet and windy day.
Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? To my hillwalking friends no, but to others it is not really worth mentioning. They would not understand.
I... have a seriously indoor job, I am a neonatal nurse. I also knit my own jumpers.
