We had a busy year and covered many miles around the country. We started the year in the Scottish Borders over New Year and spent single weeks in June and August in the English and Welsh borders. In September, we travelled from Bristol to Land's End and along the south coast to Folkestone, and ended up in the magnificent surroundings of Mar Lodge and the River Dee valley for Hogmanay 2011.
Two of the high points were a very cold but lovely winter week in the Ettrick valley and then experiencing the living history you come across in south east England from the Battle of Hastings to the Battle of Britain. That's the added benefit of all this - you get a lot more than just a 'tick'.
