My interest in Marilyns began... when I climbed my first Marilyn with my brother-in-law who was in the process of completing the Munros. I thought that tagging along with him was better than staying in Killin with my mother-in-law and family. After a friend helped me climb the In Pinn I then did some serious bagging and was lucky enough to team up with a couple who helped me get the harder/more remote Munros. I enjoyed doing the Corbetts as I didn't use the guidebooks as much.
My favourite Marilyns are... nearly every one as they each bring back a nice thought. It might have been a hard day, a temperature inversion, snow, sun, wind, rain or getting completely lost. If I had to pick one, then Ben Armine because of the surprising landscape, different from other parts of Scotland, and my Father came from Brora.
My least favourite Marilyn is... Sow of Atholl, because of the short time that it took.
Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? I don't mind being referred to as a bagger because that is what I am and proud of it.
I... have also climbed a whale, which was beached on Small Island near Carrick Bay close to where my mother lives in Kirkcudbright. I waded the thigh-deep water to get to it and was glad I did as it was enormous.
