I'm clearly spending too much time in France and not enough on the basics at home. Highlight of the year was, surprisingly, Windlestraw Hill, from Holylee in the Tweed valley - not a particularly exciting ascent, but the view suddenly resolved itself 20 metres from the trig point into a clear and stunning panorama over Edinburgh, Fife, North Berwick, Bass Rock et al. This was quite unexpected and allowed me to cope with the complaints of a non-bagging brother-in-law.
