Steady progress again in 2014. In early May we joined Alan Holmes' trip to the islands south of Barra and were lucky to be on the boat that enjoyed the best of a mixed-weather week. Spent the rest of a fortnight trip working our way up through the Uists to complete the Marilyns there and, with the aid of sea kayaks, a few island Humps and P30s.
At Whitsun I caught the train up to Loch Lomond and enjoyed a four-day backpacking trip up through the Luss Grahams and then back down the east side of the loch. Another lightweight backpacking trip finished off the Isle of Man Marilyns.
Final Marilyn-bagging trip of the year was a week in late September to eastern Scotland. Forty-two hills, many with the aid of a mountain bike, few of them memorable, though there were a couple of candidates for my least favourite Scottish hill, notably Waughton Hill where I approached from the south only to be confronted with a solid wall of head-high gorse.
