It wa another year with only one Marilyn outing, that being to the Portree meet in June. I managed to bag 12 new Marilyns during the nine days I was away. I enjoyed the meet again, apart from missing the RIB trip from Broadford - idiot.
However, the most exciting event was helping the police and rescue people to locate and recover a lad missing overnight on Meall na Suiramach. I had spent the night at the col car park and a policeman turned up early in the morning and asked if I had seen anyone the previous day. I was able to tell him that I had spoken to a lad on top the previous afternoon at about 4pm and that he seemed perfectly OK then. He had said that after visiting Beinn a'Sga, he was continuing on to the car park and had asked me about the path to it as he had come up from the north. Having pointed the rescuers in the right direction, I waited until I heard by radio that they had found him. I was relieved to hear that, apart from a sprain, he was pretty well OK. I had only played a very small part in the rescue but it was both rewarding and exciting.
Apart from that, Mary and I managed some hills. These included Mam Tor and its ridge to Lose Hill and also Roseberry Topping. Mary has officially hung up her boots, however she did this last hill because she is a keen National Trust bagger.
