Baglogs:

John Abbott (+17=410)

I am just an amateur bagger but I have again enjoyed some fine hills during the year. The first new Marilyn was the excellent Carn Fadryn during a week's holiday on the Lleyn peninsula - a super little mountain and a great viewpoint.

At the beginning of May I had a productive day-trip to the Welsh borders near Hereford on a lovely sunny day. Aconbury Hill was my 100th English Marilyn and, a few hours later, Great Rhos became my 400th Marilyn.

A week in the Highlands with friends later in May was hugely enjoyable as usual. We had a long backpack from Blair Atholl, including several Munros and a night at the Tarf Hotel bothy. Later in the week, a day from Glen Feshie included the ascent of Sgor Gaoith, which leaves me with only one Munro remaining.

A day in south Wales in August with blustery showers and sunny spells gave some repeats and some new Marilyns, including Mynydd Carn-y-cefn on the way home, to give ten new Welsh Marilyns in the year.

My ambition for 2012 is to finish the Munros in early June and to make progress with other subsets of lists. For example, I have only three Lakeland Hewitts remaining and have nearly completed the 2500ft Marilyns south of the border. One advantage of being an amateur bagger is that there are plenty of minor milestones to celebrate.
