Meet some new members:

Rick Salter (610)

My interest in Marilyns began... when Jen bought me the book as a present back in 2007. Prior to then we had both been busy with Munros, Corbetts and Grahams. I was an avid collector of the original England and Wales listing of George Bridge.

My favourite Marilyns... After crossing the Great Glen it is always special. The hills seem more remote, rugged, and less busy. I include the island groups in this. We've had some splendid wild backpacks through that area. Moidart and Ardgour are a particular favourite. The hills around Peebles, Moffat, and Selkirk are also wonderful.

My least favourite Marilyns are... where there is the dreadful encroachment of 'industry' into our hills; especially in Scotland it is tragic. Landowners have made a mess of the hills with their bulldozed tracks for several generations, but the last five years have seen awful inroads across the country by mini-hydro schemes, de-forestation activity and wind farms.

Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? No, it's not something to be ashamed of is it? I have bought the book for at least three others and promoted the hill-bagging.co.uk website to many. It's a great sport.
