My interest in Marilyns began... accidently from searching for hill lists, on the internet in early 2011. A quick count showed that I'd already done 549, which inspired me to try for 600. I met Andy Lawson at Moray MC and he mentioned that he had done 172 Marilyns in 2010. The Marilyns have been a great opportunity to explore different areas and are a new focus of attention, rather than repeating the same hills.
My favourite Marilyns are... those where I have had many memorable days on the west coast and the islands. My favourite experiences are long days in summer, in remote areas, chasing remote summits. I pick the best days to do the best hills. The experience is enhanced if I am with others, but I have no problem walking alone. The Corbetts were very enjoyable and challenging.

My least favourite Marilyns are... those of the deep heather-covered variety. Worst or most difficult so far would be, Torr Achilty and Hill of the Wangie (difficulty of access). I have had no really bad or horrible experiences on the larger hills that I can remember.
Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? No. I am regularly asked by Club members what hills I have done. Some respect it and some ridicule. I have made an 'achievements' page for our website which might get others to add their name.
I... moved to Forres with the RAF in 1991 and started serious hillwalking in 2003. I have a sporting background and like to keep fit. I am lucky enough to have that rare combination of fitness, health, time and money (my wife still works at present), location, desire and walking colleagues to finish some more hill rounds. I just wish that I had started earlier.
