It was payback time after three separate weeks of brilliant weather in 2008. The first week of May on Mull was the wettest week in Britain since 1324 BC, until that week in November in Keswick, which was the wettest week ever. I've seen a bit of rain in my time, but 300mm in one day was a bit much. A planned visit to Ann and Rowland in Portinscale proved impossible without boat or helicopter. But the three days that counted were those in a small boat in a big ocean in September, and for that the weather prophets were forgiven.
