The Small Faces

Jon Foote (+29=585)

Having thought I might reach the Hall of Fame in 2008, I am still not there. Last year was one of family crises and excessive work pressure; not a combination which makes for a lot of time on the hill. One trip to complete Wales on Mynydd Llangorse and five trips to Scotland gave the meagre total, although I also did two Irish Marilyns - Mweelrea is a very fine hill (MR: That is an understatement - it is stupendously wonderful).

Highlights were mostly around the Strontian meet in fine weather and in Galloway in very wet weather. Craignell won the prize for the most unpleasant walk, one of those that are memorable for sheer hard work, roughness underfoot, and extraordinary windiness and wetness.

On the other hand, the year ended with a wonderful solo moonlit repeat of a snowy Illgill Head, and 2010 got off to a great start with Scafell and Black Combe, both in excellent wintry condition.
