Best: Aran Fawddwy (30E), climbed in lovely weather from the south. At the start of the walk a Snowdonia park ranger asked where we were going, and I managed to pronounce 'Glasgwm' correctly. His comment: 'not bad for an Englishman'.
Best surprises: Long Knoll (41), a most pleasing narrow ridge for very little effort. Also coming across a slow worm on Brighstone Down on the Isle of Wight. That was my first encounter with one since Knoydart in the mid 1990s.
Most amusing encounter: In Loch Ossian youth hostel I met a chap, with wife and son, who admitted he climbed Marilyns. He said he knew a bloke who had nearly done them all: 'he's mad, he also collects trig points'. I asked him if it was Rob Woodall by any chance. 'Oh yes'.
