My first new Marilyn in over three years was Arnside Knott on 31 August 2005. I stayed at the campsite just to the south and climbed it again the next day with my ageing dog Sandy; his 1026th new Marilyn, and most likely his last. I am now greatly restricted in my travels thanks to my self-imposed ban on arriving at the foot of a hill by motor car (occasional camper van trips excepted). This has certainly improved my overall fitness, having cycled nearly 6500 miles last year, as against 5000 miles driven in the camper van, and my Eddington number, E, is now a respectable 85 (E=the highest number of days in your life on which you have cycled more than E miles; see TAC64). During the year I managed 55 new Hewitts (40 England, 15 Ireland), 29 Graham Tops, 10 Corbett Tops and 31 Yeamans. Most-climbed Marilyn was Druim na h-Earba (4A), with 47 ascents, making 521 in total. I completed the Scottish council tops on Creach Hill (27A) on 23 June. Highest altitude reached was 5895m on Uhuru Point, Kilimanjaro, on 26 January. Most spectacular summit was 4565m Mount Meru, to see the sunrise behind Kilimanjaro.
