Obscure no more:

John Hipwood, Wolverhampton (815)

After finishing my Munros a few years ago on Sgurr nan Gillean I was looking for another challenge, heard about the relative hills and found the website. I then went and bought the book and have since spent many a happy hour on the web finding out about these lovely hills. A new lease of life followed, with many wonderful days spent on the hill and time at home spent looking at maps from all over Great Britain instead of just Scotland.

Highlights of 2004 were a February trip to Newtonmore, with peaks such as Binnein Shios and Binnein Shuas, and an Easter trip to Crianlarich and Knoydart, taking in Beinn Mhic Mhonaidh (3C), Beinn Bhuidhe 855m (10B) and other Corbetts, finishing with a classic round of Streap. I also have special memories of a Christmas visit to Barra and Uist. Christmas Day was spent on Beinn Mhor, with plenty of the white stuff about, before returning to Howmore hostel to celebrate. I then had a lovely new year's eve on South Lee and North Lee, with celebrations at Berneray hostel.
