A good year - 40 Marilyns was more than any year for ten years. Most enjoyable was the round of Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill (16B), although the cloud meant I didn't see the eponymous corrie. All the Corbetts and Grahams in the north were, unbelievably, in dry conditions, though not all were calm and clear. On the other hand, over half of the smaller hills were in rainy (often monsoon) conditions, including the torture of the crawl through Crock's barely penetrable forest, and Beinn Lagan's sodden tick-infested bracken. So I'd rather remember the crisp clear February days on Pike o'Blisco and Coniston Old Man, the unseasonably mild four-Marilyn-a-day raids near Newtonmore in March and Peebles in October, and the calm, cloudless sail to Ailsa Craig in May, although we couldn't walk around the island because of the high tide.

It was also a good year for Dumgoyne (427m, NS542827, LR64), with 131 visits, taking my total to 814 by the end of 2004. At this rate I hope to be in four figures by mid-2006.
