I'd hoped this might be a year of five completions. In the end I managed three, not quite reaching the end of the Corbetts, though I reduced those remaining from twelve to two (Carn Ban and Ben Vrackie). Probably the best day was a mid-March walk in ideal conditions to Sgurr a'Choire-bheithe from Kinloch Hourn. The fine spring also let me reach the main Jura hills (last time gales prevented me even reaching the island) and the three Glen Elchaig Corbetts. Other wandering took me to An Ruadh-stac and Beinn na Caillich (Knoydart) on successive June days.
I was rather indolent about lower Marilyns, though I was on some of the Ettrick ones, including the infamous Law Kneis, in August. The completions were: a) the 60 Ochil Tops (300m height, 30m drop) in February, finishing in Dave Hewitt's company on Down Hill; b) the SubDonalds (by drop) in June on Great Knock beside Broad Law; and c) in October, all the triangulation pillars of LR64 (the most prolific map in Scotland for TPs) on 22m Barskiven Hill at Johnstone. Near Christmas I was fortunate to avoid an unwanted completion (that of my hillwalking career) when I fell through a bridge over the River Devon near Rumbling Bridge, breaking my wrist and three ribs, and puncturing one of my lungs. I'm glad to say I'm now back out on the hills again.
