Ticking over: Brian Ewing

With ten Grahams remaining, and having managed my previous fifteen in good weather, I was determined that they should also be suitably blessed. This proved to be an easier task than expected, given the Scottish weather. T-shirt and shorts on the hills in February and March, surely not? Yes, and the rest of 2003 proved to be equally amenable to this attire. Easter camping in Strathconon; a June weekend in Knoydart; Beinn Bharrain on Arran as the penultimate Graham; and the finale Meall Tairbh from the Glencoe Ski Club lodge one hot August weekend. After a couple of pints at Inveroran it was back to the lodge for champagne and cake. Nice - wish I could afford it more often. Given the good weather, the lower Marilyns provided an excellent excuse for camping at every opportunity during the year. My total of 105 new Marilyns for the year will probably never be surpassed, as the nearest new one is now two hours drive from home, and let's face it, we won't get a summer like 2003 in a hurry will we?
