Baglogs (72 of them):
Richard Speirs (+50=1143)
Another year gone and a review of my hills diary for 2013 revealed the following highlights and lowlights:
- Enjoying the delightful Lake District ridges between Causey Pike and Whiteless Pike in winter conditions.
- Admiring a winter sunset's alpenglow on Carn Liath after a tough Beinn a'Ghlo day in February.
- Exploring Taransay in March.
- Despairing when a motorbike churned its way through the April snow to the top of Greatmoor Hill.
- Finally getting to Sandwood Bay in May, only to have to shelter from the gale-driven snow.
- Bagging all of the summits near Cape Wrath without getting blown up - some serious shell casings.
- Watching a fox only some 20 metres away from me on the Parph for several minutes before it sensed me.
- Observing a sea-eagle being mobbed by both a crow and buzzard on Badenoch's Creag Ruadh.
- Beating a cloudburst back to my car (just) after a circuit of a couple of Strathconon's Corbetts.
- Walking in the wilderness of Pairc in a heatwave and then being invited for a drink by the keeper.
- Shetland - thanks Alan. Brilliant, especially Noss, Foula, Fair Isle (eventually) and Saxa Vord.
- Sipping a beer outside Ennerdale's Black Sail hostel on a perfect summer's evening . Tip - do not be tempted to repeat my route of climbing of Iron Crag from Silvercove Beck; go round.
- Savouring the solitude of an early morning walk along part of Hadrian's Wall.
- Sharing a great final Corbett day on Beinn Resipol with Rick and Jen - congratulations (hic).
- Visiting Ardnamurchan for the first time in over 30 years - the road is a lot better than it used to be.
- Seeing the vast expanse of Glen Sanda quarry from Beinn Mheadhoin.
I am looking forward already to more islands and hills in 2014, injured knee permitting.
