My best and worst Marilyns for 2012 were:
Best: An Teallach - Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill over to Sail Liath. This trip sticks out in my mind for many reasons. This was the Munro I did with my sister this year and we were lucky to have any weather as good as we did. Did this on the 14 July and did not completely miss the rain but certainly did not get soaked. More trouble with stronger winds and cloud but still enjoyed great views. I remember we enjoyed a time of rest when we reached Sail Liath. It was nice and grassy up there.
Worst: There might be something worse but the Monadhliath Munro, Carn Sgulain, springs to mind. I am not one to pooh-pooh a hill quickly - no matter how tall or short it is - but I genuinely felt Carn Sgulain was something of an anti-climax, after having walked all that way to it from Carn Dearg. Its one saving grace is the extraordinary view you get of the Monadhliath itself. To me, it looks like a giant quilt of hills, sprawling northwards. It makes me want to venture in there and see what all is hiding amongst those mostly list-free hills.
