Another modest total and only three from the house, which seems odd given that there are still dozens of new hills within a sensible distance. But there were more repeats this year, notably of Munros and Corbetts, indicating that, although it wasn't a good summer, there were more reasonable days when higher hills called.
There were also the first Humps. Proper examination of the list was prompted by a chance encounter above Kingussie on one of several days spent visiting the area around the proposed Allt Duine wind farm. We spoke to a sprightly older lady who had left a campervan in the golf club car park shortly ahead of us. Her objective was Creag Dubh (Carn Sgulain), an obscure choice I thought, but as I walked on, the brain churned and I concluded: that must be Ann Bowker and CD (CS) must be a Hump. Correct on both counts, and apologies to Ann for not recognising her sooner. So I have now marked the non-Marilyn Humps on my local maps. It was interesting to see that I had walked near many but climbed few, so there are plenty to keep me going on days when I want a new target.
