Ian Galbraith (618)

My interest in Marilyns began... after I had started walking Munros and Corbetts, I met Andrew Dempster on Ben Vorlich one miserable wet Sunday, so bought the Grahams book and added Grahams. Then I saw the RHB book in a bookshop in Ballater - game on after that - do not know whether to thank Alan or... ... .

My favourite Marilyns are... Ben Alder, south Glen Shiel ridge, Ben Macdui and lots of others. Reason - brings back happy memories of sunshine, wall-to-wall views, silence.

My least favourite Marilyn is... Black Craig of Dee by Clatteringshaws Loch. Possibly the worst terrain ever, although there are a few close contenders.

Do I keep Marilyn bagging a secret? Absolutely not, tell everyone, popularise it amongst walkers and educate the non-walkers. They laugh at first, and then the more adventurous come on short Marilyns with us and discover bits of Scotland they have never seen.

I... have been retired for seven years, I renovate houses occasionally, am a pianist, married - my wife walks too, is in the Corridor with 500 - and never have enough time since I stopped work.
