From our editor

Martin Richardson

Welcome to the 2013 edition of the magazine for baggers of Marilyns and related prominent hills of Britain. Thanks to everyone for their written efforts. Despite 2012 being the wettest year since Gore-Tex was invented, it does not seem to have dampened the bagger spirit very much. The number of members of the Hall of Fame continues to grow at a steady pace. This was helped by efforts from Chris Watson, who turned detective and identified the real names of individuals who were pseudonymously logging their totals on the hill-bagging website. He has persuaded a number of them to confess and some of them have even completed the new member questionnaire - see their answers inside.

As part of the editing process, I have found a number of HoF members who expressed surprise and ignorance about the existence of the online Marilyn bagging mailing list to be found at: groups.yahoo.com/group/rhb
It is an ongoing discussion group that you can join in via email or on the web. Amongst other things, it helps you keep up-to-date with changes in hill status, changes in access and about planned trips and expeditions. It is open to anyone who is interested. Why not give it a try?

So that is enough from me for now, except to thank Chris Watson, the new keeper of the Hall of Fame list, who did his task with fortitude and grace.

Busy tamperers

The tamperers were as busy as ever in 2012. However, thankfully there was only one major change with regard to the Marilyn list. The Marilyn status was switched between the Corbetts, Sgurr a'Bhac Chaolais and Buidhe Bheinn. If you had bagged both it made no difference to your total; if you had only got the former you lost a Marilyn and if you had only got the latter, you gained one. For summaries of changes in other lists, see inside.
