The annual meeting for 2010 will take place in Ullapool over the weekend of 4-6 June. All are welcome. The dinner will be held on Saturday 5th at Morefield Motel (NH125947, LR19). Meet at 7pm or earlier for a 7:30pm start (lots of people will be meeting up on the Friday night). Please contact the organiser, Alan Holmes, to reserve your place. At the time of writing, there are only 16 unfilled dinner places remaining. The motel will provide a varied menu with choice of four starters, four main courses and three desserts. Vegetarians and vegans will be well catered for, but please advise Alan at the time of booking. The dinner will cost £16.50 per head and full payment is required at the time of booking (details below). Drinks (charged separately), will include coffee, tea, wine and a range of fine real ales.
The motel rooms all have en-suite facilities and television. The room rate is £35 per person per night including breakfast, but if we can fill all ten rooms, we will benefit with a 10% discount. All rooms except one double-bedded room have already been allocated, so if you haven't already booked, please don't delay.
The 57-bed Ullapool youth hostel, on Shore Street, Ullapool IV26 2UJ (NH129940), is available at £17.25 per night for members, £18.25 for non-members. Several have booked in already. For those on a tighter budget, the Broomfield camp site is on the south-west side of Ullapool (ten minutes walk from the motel). Caravans and mobile homes can also be parked there, as well as at Ardmair Point, three miles to the north.
Boat trips to the Summer Isles are planned but have not yet been finalised (there are Humps on Isle Martin and Tanera Mor). Three trips are likely, with provisional details as follows:
Trip A, a 38ft powerboat (capacity 12) leaving from Ullapool harbour on Sat 5th at 10am, visiting Tanera Mor, Tanera Beg and Isle Martin, returning at 5:30pm. Cost £44 per person.
Trip B, a 28ft rigid inflatable boat (capacity 12) leaving from Ullapool harbour on Sat 5th at 9:15, visiting Isle Martin, Horse Island, Tanera Mor, Tanera Beg, Priest Island and Eileen Dubh, returning at about 6:15pm. Cost £50 per person.
Trip C, on the same RIB, will depart from Ullapool harbour on Sunday 6th at 10am, visiting Isle Martin, Horse Island, Tanera Mor and Tanera Beg, returning at 5:30pm. Cost £40.
Details will be confirmed by email; a deposit will be required.
A few members would like to climb Stac Pollaidh during the weekend (bad step on the way to the summit), so if you have a head for heights and possess climbing ropes etc, maybe you could help a few members to reach the summit. Also, Ann Bowker is hoping to celebrate her 2500th Hump during the weekend. No doubt there will be other interesting expeditions planned.
