A reasonable year, as we seemed to avoid the worst weather, particularly while in Shetland. We managed to get across to Noss, which was well worth the effort, although our collie did not appreciate being left behind for a couple of hours. He has clocked up 410 Marilyns over the last six years, a figure that would be much greater if he was not lumbered with two OAPs. We chose rather a bad time to leave Shetland, as the ferry was full with drunken Shetlanders on a weekend visit to Orkney. Over Christmas we stayed in the Stranraer area and had hoped to tackle the wee hill of Beneraird, but the public highway seemed to finish two miles south of Lagafater Lodge, and since visibility had decreased to 200 metres, we realised that there were better things to do on Christmas Eve.
