A long summer weekend in the Isle of Man enabled me to add an easy five, but further progress was delayed owing to training for my first (and last) marathon and an unexpected week in China, with a colleague from college, returning the day before I was due to move house. Autumn was therefore pretty hectic, so it was late November before I had the chance to add to my tally. A wet day on Meall na Meoig was enhanced by the fun of getting there by train from Tulloch (with just time for a welcome cup of tea on the ride back). A better day followed, with fine views and reasonable snow conditions for my 1000th on Gairbeinn, accompanied by friends from the Glasgow Glenmore Club, who displayed mild interest when I mentioned the landmark at the end of a satisfying walk.
