Marilyn timeline

In 2015, two Marilyns were discovered and two demoted, leaving the total at 1556. As this is the final Marhofn, I thought it appropriate to summarise the main changes to the Marilyns over the past 24 years. All status changes from 2008 onwards have resulted from surveys.

1992: RHB published. Total of 1542 Marilyns.

1995: Major revision and first RHB update. Fifteen new Marilyns and six demotions. In: Cruim Leacainn, The Bochel, Giur-bheinn, Beinn Bhragair, Sell Moor Hill, Mynydd Rhyd ddu, Craig y Castell, Disgwylfa Fawr, Cefn Cenarth, Carn Gafallt, Mynydd Dinas, Swinside, Lovely Seat, Aconbury Hill, Cheriton Hill. Out: Sgorr Tuath, Cruach Bhuidhe, Cunnigill Hill, Hedgehope Hill, Cushat Law, Scafell. Total 1551.

1996: Out: Harter Fell, Baystones. Total 1549.

1997: In: Abberley Hill, Milk Hill. Total 1551.

1999: In: Swyre Head, Nine Barrow Down. Out: Abberley Hill, Milk Hill. 2001: In: Baystones. Total 1552.

2005: In: Meall Chomraidh, Arnside Knott. Total 1554.

2008: In: Sail Chalmadale. Total 1555.

2009: In: Creag na Criche, Mynydd y Cwm. Out: Raw Head. Total 1556.

2010: Out: Baystones, Lovely Seat. Total 1554.

2013: In: Killyleoch Hill, Lamberton Hill, Mynydd Anelog. Total 1557.

2014: In: Creag an Amalaidh. Out: Cruim Leacainn, Troweir Hill. Total 1556.

2015: In: Sithean Mor, Kirriereoch Hill. Out: Stob na Boine Druim-fhinn, Swyre Head. Total 1556.

The following changes did not affect the total as they were one in, one out:

1996: In: Horse Head Moor. Out: Birks Fell.

2006: In: Coraddie, Birks Fell. Out: Beinn Bhreac, Horse Head Moor.

2008: In: Cracoe Fell. Out: Thorpe Fell Top.

2012: In: Buidhe Bheinn. Out: Sgurr a'Bhac Chaolais.

2013: In: Creag an Dail Bheag. Out: Carn Liath.

2014: In: Creag na h-Eararuidh, Creag Toll a'Choin. Out: Beinn Dearg, Maoile Lunndaidh.
