Baglog bonanza:

Brian Edridge (+100=1050)

2014 was a year of nice round numbers - 100 Marilyns bagged and the highlight of reaching 1000 on Bidein Bad na h-Iolaire in June.

A week at Kinloch Rannoch in January got me off to a good start by finishing the Perthshire hills. After an absence of 30 years from Wales I managed two week-long trips there, which contributed one third of my total for the year. They also gave the worst hill of the year - Waun Fach in the Black Mountains - on a day of thick cloud on all but the lowest hills. I had read of this being a wet hill, but after fifty years on the Scottish hills thought little of it. The ascent was fine, but I was amazed at the huge quagmire of ankle-deep mud and water which was the featureless summit plateau. In the thick mist I squelched around looking for the highest point for seemingly ages before deciding on the third visit to the solitary boulder that this was indeed the top.

I hope to get back to Wales again in 2015 for more rich pickings, but my immediate target is my 1000th Scottish Marilyn.
