The marked track from the car park at NG953899 along the Inverianvie River is badly overgrown with gorse and becomes exposed later. Plus, if the river is in spate there is a long, hard slog through peat hags and bog to eventually reach the excellent stalkers path at NG981825.
A bicycle can be used as far NG994856 on the Land Rover track along the Gruinard River to the east. Ignore Andrew Dempster's book and stay on the west bank. Then walk on the west bank of the river to NG994853, follow the tributary river south-west, using deer tracks up the gully to NG990850 to gain more level, complex but not difficult terrain. There is a stalker's path to the south which goes to the col below the top.
