Baglogs:

Vernon Miles (+6=814)

The year 2012 was a bad one for me. I had three months off sick due to trouble with my right eye, a detached retina which involved two lots of surgery, plus a cataract which also had to be sorted out. That kept me of the hills for quite a while. Then I lost my father, who had been ill for some time. There was also other stuff going on, so as a consequence my tally grew by a meagre six.

February saw me gaining three on the Isle of Mull, which perhaps I should not have done because it was just after my first detached retina operation. Just twelve days after the first op, I had to have another one due to it becoming detached again, possibly due to too much strenuous exercise too soon.

Then nothing till October, when I picked up Win Green and Long Knoll near Shaftesbury, Wiltshire, and then a very wet and boggy Beacon Batch in the Mendips. Unfortunately, this was tempered by my father passing away at the end of my trip.

On the up side, I had a well-earned break to see a friend in Australia and whilst there I climbed my second Ultra, the mighty Kosciuszko - 2228m high, but it just looks like a bigger version of Cairngorm. Still, a lovely area and a nice hill in its own right.

Anyway, short and sweet last year. Hopefully, I will get a few more in 2013.
