Looking ahead... The venue for this year's meeting will be Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness (LR34, NH378090), over the weekend of 2-4 June. As ever, all are welcome, including partners and children. Dinner on the Saturday night will be at the Lovat Arms hotel in Fort Augustus, at 19:30, where some people will no doubt gather on the Friday night. The hotel is on the A82 Fort William road in the middle of the town. Those attending should arrange their own accommodation. Some options:
Camping and caravans: The handiest site appears to be Fort Augustus Caravan and Camping Park, just as you enter the town from Fort William (01320 366618).
Self-catering: The nearest SYHA hostels are at Loch Ness and Loch Lochy, both ten miles from Fort Augustus. Stravaigers Lodge in Fort Augustus, a private hostel, is likely to be fully booked. However, the larger Morag's Lodge on Bunoich Brae is 600 metres from the Lovat Arms and has single and double rooms for 80 people (www.moragslodge.com or 01320 366289).
Hotels and B&B: The Lovat Arms has rooms but is pricey (£40-65 for a single room). There are several other hotels and many B&Bs to choose from. See groups.yahoo.com/group/rhb/message/10453 for around 30 options.
