2004 gatherings

It looks like being a relatively sociable year, with a choice of three weekends. Anyone attending the first two can get the third one full price.

June

This year's main meeting will be held in Weem near Aberfeldy over the weekend of 18-20 June. As usual, all are welcome, non-hillwalking partners included. Dinner for the Saturday night, including vegetarian choices, has been booked in the Ailean Chraggan Hotel: see www.fishingnet.com/hotel/upper/aileanchraggan.htm Budget accommodation is available in Wade House at £12 per person per night (£13 for twin rooms) including linen and duvets, showers and breakfast cooking facilities. Eighteen beds have been provisionally booked for the Friday and/or Saturday. Alternatively there are rooms available in the hotel, as well as camping options and numerous B&Bs in the area.

Contact Jon Metcalf to reserve a place for dinner or for any further details (metcalfjj@bp.com or 01467 624241). If you want to stay at Wade House please send Jon a deposit cheque for £12, payable to J J Metcalf, at 10 Millfield Drive, Inverurie AB51 4UG.

Jon has worked out that there are 36 Munros and 94 Marilyns within 40km of Weem, including 27 Corbetts and 18 Grahams. Not to mention Corbett Tops and Graham Tops.

By then Hamish expects to have reached his 1000th Marilyn as well as his 70th birthday, though one is more predictable than the other. Phone Hamish on 01592 873546 if interested.
