Macc And The Art Of Long Distance Walking, by Graham Wilson, explores five long walks in the Macclesfield area plus the Derwent watershed, the Welsh three-thousanders, and the Bob Graham round. It has been enthusiastically reviewed:
'Unexpected and engaging diversions into mountaineering literature, social history, the right to roam and maps.'
(Kevin Borman, High).
'Once I'd started reading I couldn't put it down.' (Jerry Hall, TGO).
'Wainwright-type size and old-fashioned, hand-crafted appearance... Definitely worth seeking out.'
(Val Hamilton, The Angry Corrie).

The RHB mailing list was set up in 1999 to assist discussion and exchange of information about Marilyn bagging and related matters. The list was originally set up with Onelist, which was taken over by eGroups and then by Yahoo, so it is now a Yahoo group. Register at www.yahoogroups.com/group/rhb to join the group. This will allow you to send messages to rhb@yahoogroups.com to reach all list members (there are currently 118). Alternatively, anyone can read the message archive at www.yahoogroups.com/messages/rhb Some of the items in this issue of Marhofn have already appeared on the RHB list and are reproduced here with authors' permission.
Two amazing feats of bagging were chalked up in the first few months of 2002. On 24 February James Gordon became the first person to climb all 670 Corbett Tops - that is 219 Corbetts and 451 other summits of Corbett height with 30m drop. Final summit was Marg na Craige, reached (like many others) on ski. Then in late March Ken Whyte headed off to Wales where excellent weather enabled him to finish all the mainland Marilyns, taking him to a total of 1544, with only Bardsey, Muldoanich and St Kilda missing from the full set. Gosh.
The next issue of Marhofn is likely to appear around April 2003. Hall members and other readers are encouraged to submit articles, numbers, comments, photos and cash by 31 Jan 2003.
